Case Study: Pimcore PIM Brings Order to the Sneakers
The AFEW STORE is a worldwide known sneaker store from Düsseldorf. Since 2008 AFEW sells sneakers of all kinds, online and locally in the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. Besides classic sneakers, AFEW sells limited and exclusive sneakers that are almost nowhere else to be found. Over the years, AFEW has worked with well-known brands like Nike, Adidas, ASICSTIGER, Diadora, or KangaROOS.
Business Needs
The amount of manual maintenance had to be significantly reduced. The same applied to the import of image data and the comparison of master data with the ERP system.
Pimcore Solution
AFEW chose the Pimcore PIM and DAM solution. The implementation partner was twocream from Wuppertal. twocream received the order for the realization of the project with technical conception, development, and implementation. The twocream team developed the Pimcore modules and designed the different data models for various specific requirements.
Pimcore gets its data from the ERP system and was connected to the online shop (Shopify) via API. The image import was solved via a hotfolder function, where the allocation of the images is highly automated. Product data is transferred to Shopify, and the content pages of the online shop receive their data from Pimcore. Various product feeds are automatically extracted from Pimcore in short time intervals and made available online. Finally, the Afew team also controls the social media channels via Pimcore based on the Pimcore product data.
"Pimcore is the data rock in the surf."
- Marco Biergen, Managing Director, AFEW
Business Results
The online sale of sneakers thrives on the pictures. Particularly with exclusive, rare models, customers want to see the product as good as possible. This is where Pimcore's DAM module, with its automated processes, shows its strengths for the processing of images in large numbers.
AFEW can find all information in Pimcore, their new information base. Therefore Pimcore, as a PIM-/DAM-system, has an essential role in the system architecture.
