Case Study: Consumer Electronics Retailer Sells on Digital Experience Platform
Expert is a purchasing cooperative of electrical retailers with 180 locations throughout Austria. The omnichannel shop brings together 170 independent companies with heterogeneous systems and makes it possible to centrally map and control all goods, payments and service processes in one system. The implementation sets new standards in terms of B2C shop, process support in the backend and omnichannel - and thus in the integration of online and offline trade. The project won the Austrian "Retail Innovation Award" in the category "Best Omnichannel Solution".

Expert is a purchasing cooperative of electrical retailers with 180 locations throughout Austria, most of which also offer professional commercial electrical installations. Customer loyalty and trust have been very high since it was founded 40 years ago. In order to compete against the competition of sales portals and still preserve the regional added value for the locations, a multi-channel B2C shop with the involvement of the members (on-site pick-up, assembly service, consultation) should be created.

A multi-channel B2C shop with the members as local partners has been implemented to enable a simple and coherent shopping experience for the customers. Additionally, the respective Expert dealers got a B2B system as their primary purchasing channel and as an internal information portal as well as for the processing of orders. The responsive website combines the online shop with the world of Expert and also shows off the competence of the local partners. Members can create their own website with just a few mouse-clicks.
Business results
The impact was extraordinary. The new consolidated digital platform has become the primary data source for all internal and external target groups. Time-to-market for managing product data increased by 200%. All product information, media assets, the online shop and the websites are managed on the Pimcore platform. The B2B eCommerce application became the primary source for all product supplies and return management. The omnichannel eCommerce strategy can be executed.
